Windows xp ftdisk

A month or so later it is starting to exhibit the same symptoms; sometimes it can be used and hibernated several times a day before a blue screen fault occurs. It does tend to activate the fan more than it used to, and I've considered a failing drive as the possible fault.

It will boot immediately after the blue error message, but recently showed a 'Windows Registry Recovery' warning when a reboot was necessary, and now shows a red shield on the taskbar - although antivirus and firewall programs are running. Is this fault more likely to be due to software or hardware? This thread is locked. You can follow the question or vote as helpful, but you cannot reply to this thread.

I have the same question Now you can select from the list of hard disks installed on your computer and right click on the one you want to create partition on. You will now be required to select the type of partition you want to create. Now you can enter the name of the partition and select the file system of the partition.

Your email address will not be published. The hard drive is not partitioned and when I wipe the hard drive clean I will lose the cd drivers to re-load XP back on the machine. I don't remember where the cd drivers are on XP. Any Forum member have a copy of the CD drivers or know where the drivers reside so I can partition the HD before I wipe it clean and will be able to fire up XP once the drive is re-formatted.

TNX for the help. W5INC , Mar 27, AB8ZL , Mar 27, First question is WHY you need to reformat But even XP I believe allows you to create a "startup" or emergency floppy with the minimal drivers necessary. BTW, you won't be able to partition or "repartition" a hard drive before wiping it clean. A change in partitions WILL wipe it clean for all practical purposes, even though you will have to reformat afterwards.

Be careful, and understand what you are doing, and be SURE to back up all irreplaceable data. Last edited: Mar 27,
